藏族祥巴

 

“祥巴”,藏语音译,意为木刻版画。   

藏族祥巴是当代画家在藏族传统文化基础上发展创作的新的藏族版画。它不同于藏族传统的佛经版画,也不同于近现代新兴版画。其艺术特征为:以线刻为基础,以传统唐卡浓郁的色彩为主调,充分吸收藏族艺术中无限丰富的符号和审美资源,表现出强烈的民族性、地域性、时代性以及艺术家们个人的创作风格。其作品不仅具有浓郁的民族文化气息、明显的地域特色和雅俗共赏的大众精神,还以崭新的创作理念和视觉形态,突破了传统版画的审美模式,并以独立、独特、独创的艺术语言实现了对藏族传统版画的超越式深化,推动着当代中国版画的多元化发展,具有重大的现实意义和广阔的发展前景。

 

藏族祥巴在刻印上独树一帜。艺术家在印制每一幅作品时不是简单的重复,而是根据自己的创作想法变换其颜色,使画面更为丰富多彩,增强了艺术表现力,其每幅作品都具有不可复制性和唯一性。同时,藏族祥巴在颜料和用纸应用上也不断探索和创新,其对各种材料的巧妙应用和处理手法的更新,不仅成为一种新的表现形式,也成为启迪艺术家创作灵感的因素之一:藏族祥巴的绘画颜料采用产于雪域高原的天然矿、植物原料,色泽纯正、品质优异,耐光极佳,耐候性极强,具有色彩历久不褪、色相艳而不俗的特点;藏族祥巴的用纸是用产生高原雪域的瑞香狼毒、沉香等为主要原料,经数十道工序手工制作而成的藏纸,具有防腐、防蛀、防潮的特性。艺术家们在印制作品时,将线条和着色表现方法与藏纸特有的肌理、凹凸、深浅、厚薄巧妙的结合,增添了版画的艺术表现力,使“藏族祥巴”作品独具特色。

Zaxipengcuo, a Tibetan, born in 1966, the Khenpo of Qiuji Temple in Ergai County and the Tibetan chief physician of Qiuji Temple, and a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association. Participated in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006 with the works Mask of Molang being collected by China National Art Gallery; won the third prize on “the Fifth Art Festival of National Minority in Sichuan” with the works The Years; the works Desire made jointly with Yixijiayang was selected for the “Seventeenth National Print Exhibition” in 2007; won hanorary award in Taiwan Art Education Gallery with three pieces of works of Eagle series; and participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo and Second International Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal in Chengdu, China in 2009.

 

 

 

 

Yixijiaxiang, a Tibetan, born in 1966, working in Ruoergai Culture Gallery, graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association. Won the excellence prize in “the World Pearce Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition” of UNESCO with the works Pray of Mother; the works Desire made jointly with Zaxipengcuo was selected for the “Seventeenth National Print Exhibition”; particiapted in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006 with the works Molang Festival and Wedding being collected by China National Art Gallery and the works Desire being collected by Guiyang Art Gallery; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo and Second International Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal in Chengdu, China in 2009; and the works New Village on Snowy Region was selected for Eleventh National Art Exhibition.

 

 

 

 

Wang Qingjiu, Han Nationality, born in 1969, a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association, the vice president and general secretary of Jiuzhai Art Institute, and working in Jiuzhaigou Administration Bureau at present. Won the third prize on “Second Aba Teenager Art Festival” with the watercolor works Love for Motherland in 1996; won the third prize on “Third Aba Plateau Art Festival” with the watercolor works Love Song for Snowy Region (Paintings in Series) in 1997; won the second and third prizes in “Exhibition of Art and Calligraphy Works of the Press in Sichuan” respectively with the watercolor works Double Chickens-Warm Sunshine and Trees in Autumn -Echo in 1999; won the second prize on “Third Aba Teenager Art Festival” with the watercolor works The Years in 2000; won the excellence prize of arts on “the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Establishment of Aba at Prefecture Level and Fourth Plateau Art Festival” with the watercolor works Meditation in Guanzhai in 2003; won the third prize on “Fifth Minority Art Festival in Sichuan” with the print Berth in 2006; particiapted in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; and participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo and Second International Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal in Chengdu, China in 2009.

 

 

 

 

 

Tao Bo, a Tibetan, born in 1974, a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association, and teaching in Ruoergai Tibetan Language Middle School now. Won the second prize in “Sichuan Painting and Calligraphy Contest for Teachers’ Day Celebration” with the works Sun on Grassland in 1995; won the third prize on “Aba Prefecture Plateau Art Festival” with the works Love for Aba in 1997; the works Propitious Snowy Region Series was selected for “Singapore Art Contest” in 2002, with two among the series being collected; the works Plateau Dance was selected in Southwest Contest Area of “National Art Exhibition” and won the second prize on “Sichuan Minority Art Festival” in 2006; particiapted in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006 and five pieces of works of Chamo Series were collected by China National Art Gallery; and the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007.

 

 

 

 

Deng Zhu, a Tibetan, born in 1975, graduated from Chinese Painting Major of Art College in Southwest Normal University, a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association, and teaching in Ma’erkang Ethnic Normal School. Won the first prize in the exhibition of graduation creation with the works Love for Plateau which was collected by Southwest Normal University; won the first prize on “Fourth Art Festival for National Minority in Sichuan” with the works Blessing; the works Blessing and Five Steps of Life were simultaneously selected for National Teachers’ Art Works Exhibition and respectively won the first and second prizes; the works Pray of Heart is selected for “Art Works Exhibition on Fifth Art Festival for National Minority in Sichuan”; won the first prize in Aba Prefecture Teachers’ Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition with the works Fragrant Moon; particiapted in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; and participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo and Second International Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal in Chengdu, China in 2009.

 

 

 

 

Shangjizhuoma, a Tibetan, born in Ruoergai County in 1976, a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association, graduated from the Art Department of Aba Normal School, an art teacher in Ruoergai County, and won the excellent instructing teacher prize and the excellent youth art prize in “the Third Teenager Painting and Calligraphy Contest in China”. Won the second prize on “Fifth Art Festival for Students in Primary and Middle Schools in Sichuan” with the works Trousseau; participated in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006, with the works Propitious Fire God and Propitious Aquarius being collected by China National Art Gallery; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo and Second International Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal in Chengdu, China in 2009. 

 

 

 

 

Huang Yong, Han Nationality, born in Shehong County, Sichuan in 1974, now teaching in Aba Prefecture Foreign Language Experimental Primary School, and a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association, with the academic paper Accepting Original Ecological Culture and Enriching Teaching Connotation of Art Classes winning the first national prize conferred by the Ministry of Education and paper being published on such national core periodicals at division level as Art for Primary and Secondary Schools in China. Participated in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006, with the works Plateau Redness No.1 being collected by China National Art Gallery; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; and participated in “the Second International Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal in Chengdu, China” in 2009.

 

 

 

 

Ji Jie, a Tibetan, born in Xiaojin County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan in 1972, graduated from Print Department of Art College in Hebei Normal University, and a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association. Won the third prize on “the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Establishment of Aba at Prefecture Level and the Fourth Plateau Art Festival” in 2003 with the woodcut Golden Autumn of Plateau; participated in “the Second Silk Screen Paint Exhibition of China” with the silk screen paint Charitable Voice which was collected by Tianjin Art Gallery in 2004; won the first prize on National Teachers’ Printing and Calligraphy Works Contest with the woodcut Golden Autumn of Plateau; the works Homeland was selected in the Art Works Exhibition on the Fifth Art Festival for National Minority in Sichuan in 2006; participated in the works exhibition of “Tibetan Woodcut Art” held in China National Art Gallery in 2006, with the works Holyland being collected by China National Art Gallery; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo in 2009.

 

 

 

 

Dan Qiu, Han Nationality, born in Hongyuan County, Aba Prefecture in 1975, a member of Sichuan Artists’ Association, and a reporter and art editor. Won a prize on the Art Festival for National Minority in Sichuan with the black and white print Holy Mountain in 2005; participated in “the Tibetan Woodcut Art Works Exhibition” held in China National Art Gallery with the serial works of Three Propitious Treasures in 2006; the works were exhibited in Taiwan Art Education Gallery in 2007; participated in the Sichuan Aba Tibetan and Qiang Folk Custom Cultural and Artistic Exhibition of Shanghai Expo in 2009.

 

 

 

Ze Renjiu, a Tibetan, born in Ruoergai County in 1984, graduated from Art Department of Weizhou National Normal School, and teaching in Maerkang National High School. Won the first prize in the International Teenager Painting Exhibition with colorprinting works Harvest in early life; was invited to USA to participate in the exhibition and won the gold prize with the colorprinting works Ox Racing; won the third prize on Aba Prefecture Teenager Art Festival with the oil painting works Still Object; and was invited to participate in the exhibition on Shanghai Non-Material Cultural Heritage Festibal with the Tibetan woodcut works Plateau and Mother’s Diary Series 1-Barley Noodle.

 

 

 

Lebudengzhu, a Tibetan, born in 1983, graduated from Art Major in Aba Prefecture Normal School in Sichuan, and now engaged in the Tibetan house drawing and design. Won the first prize with the works Vegetables and the excellence prize with Swallon Residing Painting on “the Exhibition of Works Representing the Spirit of Long March” in Xiaojin County.

 

 

 

Lu Yuxi, a Tibetan, born in 1976, and teaching in Ruoergai Middle School. Won the excellent works prize in National New Artist Grand Meeting Contest Acitivies with the works Plum in 1995; won the excellent teacher prize and was granted with the title of “excellent counsellor for character education” in the Sixth “Quality Cup” National Children Painting and Calligraphy Contest in 2002; won the third teacher prize in “Longren Cup” First National Children Painting, Calligraphy and Photograph Contest in 2003; and won the third prize in Sichuan Teachers’ Painting, Calligraphy and Photograph Exhibition with the art works of Rhyme in 2007.
